Museum Hip-Hop akan dibuka di kota ini tahun depan

Genre musik hip-hop akan segera memiliki gedung museum sendiri. Dikutip dari NME, gedung museum tersebut akan dibuka di New York pada 2018 mendatang. Museum ini dibangun sebagai bentuk dedikasi bagi perkembangan sejarah musik hip-hop itu sendiri.

Dipilihnya New York, khususnya Harlem, karena kota itu menjadi tempat berkumpulnya para penyanyi rap ikonik termasuk Q-Trip, A$AP Rocky, Puff Daddy, Cam’ron, dan Kelis. Walaupun Bronx dianggap sebagai tempat kelahiran musik hip hop.

Museum itu diketahui dibangun oleh sebuah organisasi nirlaba, bersamaan dengan pembangunan 20 ruang cerita di Harlem. Pembangunannya dilakukan dengan dua tahap. Tahap pertama mencakup kafetaria di lantai dasar, galeri, biro pengunjung, dan toko souvenir, dan sebuah museum di lantai 2 yang rencananya akan rampung tahun depan. Sedangkan pembangunan tahap kedua mencakup kelanjutan ruang museum, hotel, mal, arcade, bar olahraga, dan lounge konser.
