MTV Video Music Awards 2020 Hadirkan BTS!
MTV Video Music Awards dipastikan membawa BTS di malam penghargaan tanggal 30 Agustus 2020.
Kabar yang dirilis di Twitter pada 4 Agustus 2020 ini segera disambut baik oleh para ARMY. Boyband asal Korea Selatan ini dipastikan akan tampil di Barclays Center, setelah mendapat tiga nominasi di penghargaan tahun ini. Lewat lagu “ON”, BTS menjadi nominasi di kategori koreografi terbaik, video pop terbaik, dan K-pop terbaik. Tahun lalu, BTS berhasil membawa pulang satu piala MTV Video Music Awards untuk kategori K-Pop Terbaik.
Ini akan menjadi penampilan perdana BTS di MTV Video Music Awards. Di sana mereka akan membawakan lagu berbahasa Inggris terbaru mereka, “Dynamite”. Lagu ini sendiri sebenarnya baru akan dirilis secara resmi pada tanggal 21 Agustus 2020.
Dua musisi lain yang sudah dikonfirmasi tampil di VMA tahun ini adalah Doja Cat dan J Balvin. Doja Cat sendiri masuk menjadi nominasi di beberapa kategori, lewat lagu yang viral di TikTok yaitu “Say So”.
Anak Trax bisa ikutan voting musisi favoritnya di situs resmi MTV. Ada 15 kategori umum yang terbuka untuk voting. 6 kategori sisanya adalah kategori profesional. Ada tambahan 2 kategori baru untuk tahun ini, yaitu video musik dari rumah terbaik dan penampilan di masa karantina terbaik.
Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande Pimpin Nominasi VMA 2020
Nominasi terbanyak VMA 2020 diraih oleh Lady Gaga dan Ariana Grande. Masing-masing mengantongi sembilan nominasi. Kolaborasi teranyar mereka “Rain On Me” mendapatkan nominasi di beberapa kategori sekaligus, seperti video musik terbaik, lagu terbaik, kolaborasi terbaik, lagu pop terbaik, best cinematography, visual efek terbaik, dan koreografi terbaik.
VMA 2020 akan menjadi acara penghargaan besar pertama yang diselenggarakan secara fisik sejak pandemi terjadi. Gubernur New York, Andrew Cuomo menegaskan bahwa protokol kesehatan dan keselamatan akan tetap diberlakukan. Langkah-langkah yang akan diambil di antaranya adalah menerapkan jarak sosial, virtualisasi VMA MTV 2020 jika memungkinkan, dan membatasi kapasitas.
