Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania sudah membuka MCU Phase 5 Februari 2023 ini. Film ini akan kembali menampilkan Paul Rudd yang berperan sebagai Scott Lang alias Ant-Man yang menjadi superhero utama dari filmnya.
Scott Lang memang merupakan karakter kedua yang menggunakan identitas Ant-Man, baik dalam versi film ataupun komik. Meski begitu, Lang terbilang menjadi karakter yang lebih populer sebagai Ant-Man ketimbang pendahulunya, yaitu Hank Pym.
Fakta Scott Lang Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
1. Mantan narapidana yang sempat bekerja untuk Tony Stark
Ketika pertama kali muncul dalam MCU, Scott Lang dikisahkan sebagai mantan narapidana yang mengalami hukuman penjara karena kasus pencurian. Lang mencuri karena latar belakangnya sebagai teknisi elektrik gagal memenuhi kebutuhan hidupnya. Setelah bebas dari penjara, Scott Lang pun sempat bekerja sebagai pegawai toko es krim pada versi film MCU.
Namun, dalam versi komiknya, Scott Lang justru sempat bekerja pada departemen desain dari Stark Industries setelah ia bebas dari penjara. Tak cuma itu, Tony Stark juga sempat mempercayakan Scott Lang buat memasang sistem keamanan baru pada markas Avengers meski tahu latar belakang kriminalnya.
2. Mencuri kostum Ant-Man agar bisa menyelamatkan anaknya
Meski sempat menjalani pekerjaan halal usai bebas dari penjara, Scott Lang akhirnya kembali terlibat dalam dunia kriminal tak lama setelah itu. Hal ini berawal ketika anaknya, yaitu Cassie Lang, menderita penyakit jantung yang cukup parah. Satu-satunya yang bisa menolong Cassie adalah dr. Erica Sondheim yang secara tiba-tiba diculik oleh Cross Technological Enterprises.
Agar bisa menyelamatkan anaknya dan membawa keluar Erica Sondheim, Scott Lang pun akhirnya mencuri kostum Ant-Man milik Hank Pym. Berkat latar belakangnya sebagai teknisi, Lang pun enggak kesulitan dalam menggunakan kostum Ant-Man. Pada akhirnya, Lang berhasil menolong Sondheim yang kemudian turut menyembuhkan Cassie.
Setelah misinya berhasil, Scott Lang pun mengembalikan kostum Ant-Man langsung kepada Hank Pym dan berencana untuk menyerahkan diri ke polisi karena telah mencuri. Namun, Hank Pym yang tahu alasan mengapa Lang mencuri kostumnya enggak mempermasalahkan hal ini. Malahan, Pym memberikan kostum itu kepada Lang asalkan digunakan buat hal positif, seperti jadi superhero.
3. Sempat menolak tawaran sebagai anggota Avengers dan Fantastic Four
Setelah mendapatkan kepercayaan dari Hank Pym untuk menjadi penerusnya sebagai Ant-Man, Scott Lang pun beraksi sebagai superhero. Hal ini pun membuat Lang mendapat perhatian buat menjadi anggota dari sejumlah kelompok superhero, seperti Avengers dan juga Fantastic Four.
Namun, Lang sempat menolak tawaran dari kelompok superhero tersebut. Alasan yang membuat Lang menolak tawaran Avengers dan juga Fantastic Four adalah karena ia ingin lebih banyak menghabiskan waktu bersama anaknya.
Terlepas dari penolakan tersebut, Scott Lang akhirnya menjadi anggota tetap sekaligus salah satu member terpenting dari Avengers. Menariknya, Lang masih bisa menghabiskan banyak waktu dengan anaknya karena ia turut membawa Cassie untuk tinggal pada markas Avengers. Bahkan, hal ini juga yang membuat Cassie ingin jadi superhero karena sering melihat Lang serta anggota Avengers lainnya beraksi.
4. Pernah berpacaran dengan Jessica Jones
Cerita superhero memang enggak pernah bisa lepas dari kisah romansa. Salah satunya adalah Scott Lang yang ternyata sempat menjalin hubungan asmara dengan Jessica Jones pada versi komiknya. Hubungan Scott Lang dan Jessica Jones berawal ketika mereka sedang menangani sebuah kasus bersama yang berkaitan dengan Mattie Franklin.

Sayangnya, hubungan Scott Lang dan Jessica Jones tak berlangsung lama. Sebab, Scott memutuskan buat berpisah setelah mengetahui fakta bahwa Jessica ternyata sedang menghamili anak mantannya, yaitu Luke Cage. Setelah putus, Jessica bahkan akhirnya menikah dengan Luke Cage.
5. Tewas karena ulah Scarlet Witch
Pada arc Avengers Disassembled yang rilis pada era 2000-an, Scarlet Witch sempat dikisahkan menggila dan melawan sejumlah rekan superhero-nya. Bahkan, Scarlet Witch menghidupkan kembali villain Jack of Hearts dengan wujud zombie. Kembalinya Jack of Heart ini kemudian menjadi malapetaka bagi Scott Lang karena meledakkan ia sampai tewas.
