Grrrl Gang Berkolaborasi dengan Band Indie Rock Australia, Last Dinosaurs
Band indie rock asal Yogyakarta, Grrrl Gang, berkolaborasi dengan Last Dinosaurs, band indie ternama asal Queensland, Australia, untuk merilis versi alternatif dari lagu bertajuk “Eleven”. Dalam kolaborasi ini, Grrrl Gang menghadirkan sentuhan baru dengan lirik berbahasa Indonesia yang dipadukan dengan elemen indie rock klasik era 90-an ala Indonesia.
Lagu “Eleven” yang dirilis oleh Last Dinosaurs pada album Yumeno Garden (2018), merupakan karya yang ditulis oleh vokalis Sean Caskey setelah terinspirasi oleh penampilan The Strokes di festival Splendour In The Grass 2016. Lagu ini telah menjadi favorit para penggemar dan sering menjadi lagu penutup dalam gigs mereka. Hingga kini, versi asli “Eleven” sudah didengarkan oleh lebih dari 16 juta pengguna di Spotify.
Dalam versi alternatif ini, Grrrl Gang diberikan kesempatan untuk menghadirkan warna baru pada lagu tersebut. Band indie rock asal Yogyakarta ini mengusung gaya musik indie rock klasik era 90-an dan untuk pertama kalinya menulis lirik lagu menggunakan bahasa Indonesia. Angeeta Sentana, vokalis sekaligus gitaris Grrrl Gang, mengungkapkan antusiasmenya atas kolaborasi ini, mengingat lagu “Eleven” memiliki tempat khusus di hati mereka.
“Ketika mendapatkan ajakan untuk berkolaborasi ini, kami semua sangat bersemangat. Terutama untukku karena lagu ini merupakan lagu yang sering aku dengarkan dengan adikku setiap kali kita sedang berada di ruang tamu, jadi menyanyikan lagu ini rasanya sudah sangat tidak asing,” ungkap Angee dari Siaran Tertuli dikutip dari Medcom.id pada, Jumat (11/10/2024).
Bagi Last Dinosaurs, Indonesia selalu menjadi tempat istimewa setiap kali mereka manggung, berkat energi luar biasa yang mereka dapatkan dari penonton. Mereka menemukan semangat yang sama dalam musik Grrrl Gang, sehingga memutuskan untuk mengajak mereka berkolaborasi.
“Grrrl Gang memiliki musik dan estetika yang sejalan dengan Eleven, dan kami tidak bisa membayangkan kolaborator yang lebih sempurna dari mereka,” ungkap Sean Caskey kepada wartawan Medcom.id
